                                          Keep Your Feet Moving Forward

I have learned that when nothing is happening things needs to keep happening.  Years ago I was “in-between jobs” as they say.  Unemployed is another way of saying it.  I had come off of a few good years as a head hunter of commercial lenders of all things.  It was a gig that I picked up when I decided to leave the production team of a reality TV show.  It turns out I was really good at being a recruiter of commercial lenders.  It is essentially a high ticket sales job.  Anytime I’ve done sales I’ve done really well.  

I became a team lead and then became greedy.  I decided that I could start my own headhunting firm and then be able to capture all of the profits.  I made the jump, got everything set up, opened the doors on my business and the calendar turned to the fall of 2008.  The economic collapse in America.  Commercial lending came to a halt.  I never made a dime but spent thousands setting up a defunct business.

The next while was difficult.  I did a few video projects here and there but didn’t make much money.  The economy was terrible.  

The Census was hiring.  With nothing else promising, and to ensure that I would keep my family well below the poverty level, I took a part-time job with the Census.  I just needed something to do.  I just needed to keep my feet moving forward.  

The Census liked my work and gave me some extra hours and kept me on as long as they could doing mop-up duty on difficult cases.  

My thinking all along was that I just needed to keep moving and something would come along.

At the same time, I had pitched a TV show Idea to BYUTV.  It was a long process getting the show from idea to pilot to a reality.  But I literally went from knocking on doors for the Census one day to knocking on doors as host of my own TV show the next.

Life can turn on a dime like that.  We need to be ready for it to happen.  Have you ever had an experience like that in your life story?  

I find myself experiencing a bit of deja vu.  I’m “in-between jobs”, the economy took a huge nosedive and I did a few video projects trying to keep afloat.  Right now I’m trying to keep my feet moving forward by creating, for the first time, my own products.  My entire life I’ve created things for other people and their businesses.  Now I’m creating a product or two of my own that I hope will get some traction.  

I need to keep doing something.  I need to keep creating.  

Sitting.  Wishing.  Wondering.  Hoping.  Those are all inconsistent with my plan of attack.  

I have faith that either my products will be a success, or because I’m keeping my feet moving, my momentum will propel me into an opportunity that is meant to be.   

I have big goals for 2021.  Look for product launch announcements coming soon and something that gets me back into the “story guy” mode.  There is nothing I love more than telling your stories.  I hope to get back to it very soon.
